After months of uncertainty following the foreclosure of the Shops at Atlas Park, Macerich, the operator of Queens Center Mall, purchased Atlas Park for $54 million. Council Member Elizabeth Crowley welcomed the new ownership group and was confident it could provide great economic benefits to the Glendale community.
“Macerich, the owners of Queens Center Mall, will be managing the Shops at Atlas Park by February 28 and, once they fully close on the purchase, we can finally move forward with developing Glendale’s own shopping center. The community welcomes the new leadership with open arms and is eager to help Atlas become an engine for economic growth. I will be meeting with Macerich this week and other stakeholders including civic groups in the coming weeks and months to make sure this shopping center works with the community and the residents I represent,” Council Member Crowley said.

In 2008 Council Member Elizabeth Crowley was elected to represent the 30th Council District covering the Glendale, Maspeth, Middle Village, Richmond Hill, Ridgewood, and Woodhaven neighborhoods. Elizabeth was the first female and first Democrat elected to represent that seat. She has chaired the Fire & Criminal Justice Services Committee since January 2010 which oversees the Fire Department, Department of Correction, Department of Probation, and Criminal Justice Coordinator’s Office.
