Council Member Elizabeth Crowley, today was received as an honorary guest at P.S. 87′s Inside Broadway’s musical performance entitled Featured Fairytales. Students from P.S. 87 meet twice a week after school to practice musical theater. Council Member Elizabeth Crowley secured a $20,000 Cultural After School Arts (CASA) grant last year allocated from her discretionary dollars.
Council Member Elizabeth Crowley (D-30, Queens) stated: “Inside Broadway and the P.S. 87 students, who put on today’s beautiful musical performace, are a shining example of how cultural arts after school programs enrich the lives of our students and broader community. Safe and healthy after school programs are crucial for our children’s social and intellectual development– and that’s why I make it a priority to support them.”
Inside Broadway is a professional New York City based children’s theatre company committed to producing Broadway’s classic musical in a contemporary light for young audiences. Their hands-on, in-school Teaching Artist Residency Program enrich core curriculum subjects through drama, dance and music.


In 2008 Council Member Elizabeth Crowley was elected to represent the 30th Council District covering the Glendale, Maspeth, Middle Village, Richmond Hill, Ridgewood, and Woodhaven neighborhoods. Elizabeth was the first female and first Democrat elected to represent that seat. She has chaired the Fire & Criminal Justice Services Committee since January 2010 which oversees the Fire Department, Department of Correction, Department of Probation, and Criminal Justice Coordinator’s Office.
