The Department of City Planning announced the beginning of the public review process for the rezoning proposal of Richmond Hill and Woodhaven. Council Member Elizabeth Crowley said: “The rezoning of Woodhaven and Richmond Hill will strengthen the neighborhoods’ appearance by preserving its characteristic one and two family homes. Jamaica Avenue Elevated Tracks Get Fresh Coat of Paint

The new paint creates a distinct difference in the neighborhood. In 2009, Council Member Elizabeth Crowley stood with State Senator Joe Addabbo, Assemblyman Mike Miller, and Maria Thomson, executive director of the Woodhaven Business Improvement District to demand that the MTA repaint and renovate the elevated tracks along Jamaica Avenue. Crowley joined Director of High School Enrollment, Bonnie Gross, and Mike Dogan from the NYC Department of Youth and Community Development for an informational seminar on the high school application process and a discussion about making the transition from Junior High School into 9th grade. Council Member Elizabeth S. Crowley joined over 200 runners this Sunday for the Annual Forest Park 5k Fun Run. The race benefited the Forest Park Trust, Inc. – an organization that provides free educational, recreational and cultural events in Forest Park for people of all ages. Elizabeth and a team of staff members took off from Victory Field to follow the course along the tree-lined Forest Park Drive. A Children’s Field Day was also held before the run.
