The communities of Glendale, Ridgewood, Maspeth, Middle Village, Woodside and Woodhaven are some of the best in the New York to live in because they provide some of the highest quality of life. Whether its our parks, the character of our neighborhoods, or high quality libraries, Elizabeth has always fought hard to make sure we have the best communities in New York to live in.
Elizabeth understands how important our local parks are to our communities. As our Council Member she has fought hard for funding for our local parks. Since taking office Elizabeth has invested million in park upgrades and renovations. Whether its the playgrounds in Juniper Park, upgrades to the Forest Park Bandshell, upgrades to Ever Green park or a new bocce ball court in Juniper Park, Elizabeth has always worked to make sure we have some of the best parks in the city. As our Council Member Elizabeth will continue to bring back funding to upgrade and refurbishments for our parks.
In 2007 overdevelopment was rampant across the city. Elizabeth fought hard to preserve the character of our neighborhoods and ensure that our communities wouldn’t be over plagued by overdevelopment. The communities of Maspeth, Ridgewood, Middle Village, Glendale and Woodhaven have all been downzoned to preserve our neighborhoods.
Elizabeth has made the refurbishing and upgrading of our libraries a key priority. Since taking office in 2009 Elizabeth secured funding to have the Woodhaven, Glendale and Ridgewood Libraries upgraded. These libraries now have updated facilities that provide services every local resident can take advantage of. Our local libraries also provide key programs like ESL training, job readiness and workforce development programs. As our Council Member Elizabeth will continue to fight for and provide key funding to keep our libraries some of the best in the city.
