Neighborhoods
Despite being only 20 minutes outside of Manhattan, Middle Village is a quiet and beautiful neighborhood with an abundance of parks, shopping and attractions. Bounded to the north by Eliot Avenue, to the east by Woodhaven Boulevard to the south by Cooper Avenue, and to the west by Fresh Pond Road, this community is home to some of the 30th Districts most-frequented spots. Juniper Valley Park, the jewel of Middle Village, has long been a hotspot for park-goers of all ages.
One of the neighborhood’s most energetic spots is Metropolitan Avenue, where you can find plenty to eat, places to shop at a wide array of small chains and local mom-and-pop stores. Middle Village is also home to the Metro Mall on Metropolitan Avenue, where one can find an array of major chains.
Here in Middle Village, we enjoy a culturally rich and diverse community. The Italian-American community, in particular, has deep roots in the neighborhood, but lately we have also seen newcomers of Irish, Hispanic and Polish descent who are attracted to the family-friendly, suburban feel of the community.
There are three NYC public schools zoned to Middle Village students- P.S. 128, P.S./I.S. 49 and P.S. 87, all of which provide quality education to our children. Christ the King High School is another parochial school that serves students in Middle Village.

Maspeth is home to some of the best residential areas in Queens. The Maspeth Plateau, an elevated area in Western Queens, boasts incredible views of Manhattan’s skyline.
In the heart of Maspeth lies Grand Avenue. A hub for businesses, this busy street has some of the best diners in Queens. The Clinton Diner on Maspeth Avenue was even featured in the 1990 film, Goodfellas.
One of the neighborhoods most cherished spots is Memorial Square, on the intersection of Grand Avenue and 69th Street. The memorial commemorates the 19 firefighters from Maspeth’s FDNY Hazmat 1/Squad 288 who died on 9/11.

Ridgewood is a quiet and friendly neighborhood that has changed a lot in the past century. It is home to a wide array of newcomers, including young families, city transplants and immigrants. One of the up-and-coming spots in Queens, Ridgewood has recently seen an influx of Brooklynites in search of cheaper rents and more closet space.
Ridgewood is characterized by its beautiful brick and stone two-story buildings, built in the early 20th century. The neighborhood, which straddles the Queens-Brooklyn boundary, is home to more official historical districts than anywhere else in Queens. The Greater Ridgewood Historical Society is located in the Vander Ende-Onderdonk House, a Dutch colonial farmhouse built in 1709, and has worked to preserve numerous other historical structures.
The Myrtle Avenue Business Improvement District, which is comprised of businesses from Fresh Pond Road to Wyckoff Avenue is the center of Ridewood.

Woodhaven is a mostly residential neighborhood split in half by a busy commercial district on Jamaica Avenue. The neighborhood retains a suburban feel, thanks to the tree lined streets and single family homes that dominate the neighborhood.
North of Woodhaven lies Forest Park, the third largest park in Queens, and a major attraction in the 30th Council District. Thousands of visitors frequent the park for the 500 acres of lush, tree-lined hiking trails, bridal paths, and athletic fields and courts. The park also boasts a 110-acre par 67 golf course and the George Seuffert, Sr. Bandshell, which can accommodate 3,500 people for concerts and shows.

Glendale is a bustling neighborhood that is bounded by Cooper Avenue to the north, Woodhaven Boulevard to the east and Myrtle Avenue to the south and Fresh Pond Road to the west.
Historically, Glendale has been a cultural melting pot of a many different ethnicities. There is an established presence of German, Irish and Italian communities and, more recently, growing Polish, Romanian and Puerto Rican populations. This mesh of cultures has produced a plethora of authentic restaurants, shops and bars throughout Glendale. In fact, the neighborhood is widely known as home to the best German food in the City.
At the center of Glendale lies Myrtle Avenue, where one can find thriving small businesses and restaurants. For shoppers, Atlas Park also boasts dozens of shops, restaurants, salons and spas.
Glendale residents also enjoy all of the amenities that Forest Park has to offer. A popular place for hikers, golfers, skaters and athletes of all ages, the 500 acre park is a major attraction in the neighborhood.

Richmond Hill is home to a number of busy commercial districts, including Jamaica Avenue, Atlantic Avenue and Liberty Avenue. North Richmond Hill, near Forest Park, is home to a some of the most beautiful and historic Victorian-style homes in Queens.
The neighborhood also boasts a number of historic landmarks including P.S. 66, and the Church of the Holy Child Jesus, which are each thriving centers of study and worship in the community. Richmond Hill was also once home to Jacob Riis, the famous “muckracking” journalist who worked to highlight and improve social injustices in New York City.
One of the most ethnically diverse neighborhoods in the 30th District, Richmond Hill has quickly seen tremendous growth within the South Asian and Caribbean communities. The Indo-Guyanese and Trinidadian immigrant communities that have taken root in Richmond Hill, bringing even more cultural depth to the area.
